Another update

Summer is continuing to get better and regain her strength. There is improvement every day, which is encouraging.
Since Summer was sick and then in the hospital, she missed a lot of school and clinical hours. There was a chance that she would not be able to graduate May 30th as planned. When she was discharged from the hospital her doctor released her to go back to school for the last week of classes and this week she received a release to be able to finish her clinical hours in the hospital. This is a big deal because she is still considered immunocompromised.
So she is working to complete the course work she missed and she has people pulling strings left and right for her to complete her clinical hours at St. Mark's Hospital.
This is awesome news because if everything goes as planned, all requirements will be met and she will be able to graduate on time!

Easter

Olivia and Kristin paid Summer a visit on Easter so Olivia could show off her cute Easter dress.

Hospital Update

Summer was discharged from the hospital Monday, April 13- Day #12 of being there. They sent her home with her own pharmacy of new prescription meds so hopefully they'll do their job and continue the healing process. Her doctor hasn't released her to go back to work yet so she can regain her strength and continue to heal.
One of the side effects of being on prednisone, receiving IV fluids, and immobility is swelling of the feet and ankles. Here's a preview of Summer's "cankles."

Fortunately they gave her MORE meds that helped with that and now they're back to normal.

Bad News

Just a quick update- Summer has been really sick for approximately the last 4 weeks. After many doctor's visits, she has been diagnosed with ulcerative colitis. After starting treatment and still not getting better, she was hospitalized on April 1st at Alta View Hospital. She is still expected to be there a few more days but is receiving all the necessary treatments needed to come home.
